These safety patrollers enjoyed a night of recognition and praise from AAA Central Penn and guest speaker, Dan Eisner, of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. During the April 28 dinner at the Whitaker Center, Harrisburg, Eisner offered his congratulations to the inductees and thanked them for their service to both their school and community.

AAA Central Penn Traffic Safety Manager, Dorie Weik, emceed the evening. Weik started the Hall of Fame program in 1998. "I wanted to create a program that would give Safety Patrol advisors a way to recognize their best patrollers. Some kids take this job very seriously and demonstrate incredible leadership skills while gaining the respect of their peers," Weik said. "That kind of behavior deserves acknowledgement."

The eight prestigious inductees were joined by their parents, their Safety Patrol advisors, principals and a representative from their local police department.

This year’s judges were Courtney Barry of Lancaster County Safe Kids, Shannon Witmer of Penn State Children’s Hospital, and Officer Anthony Clements, Township of Derry Police Department. Junior ROTC members from Cedar Cliff High School served as Honor Guard and presented the colors.

All inductees received engraved acrylic awards, certificates of achievement, $50 U.S. Savings Bonds and a goodie bag filled with coupons and gifts from local businesses. Plaques with their names and school picture will be on display at their local AAA office until April 2008. Afterwards, their names will be added to the AAA Central Penn School Safety Patrol Hall of Fame Honor Roll display at the Estelle Drive office in Lancaster.

AAA Central Penn congratulates the 2007 Hall of Fame inductees, their advisors and parents on this distinctive achievement.
