May - June 2008 - AAA News AAA Members Save More Than $1 Billion in ‘07 AAA’s 51 million members used their membership cards to rack up more than $1.192 billion in savings in 2007 through the AAA Show Your Card & Save discount program. AAA members saved on everything from hotels and restaurants to toasters and bath towels to installation of home electronics and much more. With the Show Your Card & Save discount program, savings are available on products and services at more than 160,000 locations across the country and throughout the world. AAA members saved $91 million more than last year, when members saved $1.101 billion. When surveyed, AAA members reported saving an average of $98 over the past year, an increase of 13 percent over 2006. In 2007, AAA began using a more comprehensive system of tracking member savings, which revealed that AAA members have been saving more money than previously reported. "Over the years AAA has developed relationships with companies who are leaders in their industry, and we’re glad to know that our members are taking advantage of the great discounts we have negotiated for them," said Tom Wilt, managing director, AAA Partnership Programs. "Many AAA members are learning their membership card can save them money on more than just a hotel room or a car rental." Both local merchants and international brand partners participate in the Show Your Card & Save program. In 2007, popular merchants such as Linens ‘n Things and The UPS Store joined the ever expanding list of more than 5,000 national, international and local Show Your Card & Save partners.
