May / June 2007 - AAA News Motorist Mailbag
The article "10 Tips to Keep Your Credit Card Safe" was featured in the March/April 2007 issue of AAA Touch on page 10. Tip 5 was to forgo signing your credit card so that the merchant is forced to ask for ID. Not signing the back of your card leaves the signature box open for a thief to sign and have a perfect signature match when the thief signs receipts in the card holder’s name. What you should put in the signature box is "ID Required." This forces merchants to ask for ID. I hope you make a correction to Tip 5 as your suggestion is putting people at greater risk than if they signed their own name. Editor’s Note: We agree with Ms. Pfeil and suggest that for added protection, you could write "ID required" in the blank space. Welcome Home! Members share comments after taking Discoveries tours:
We have traveled around pretty much of the world and have never had such wonderful ‘hosts’. Both Todd (Gockley) and Jeff (Durborow) were extremely helpful to both of us. They’re both wonderful.
This was my first trip of this kind and I took my 11-year-old granddaughter with me. Your host, Todd Gockley, is one of a kind when it comes to making a person feel relaxed. I can’t explain in words how he made our trip. My granddaughter will never forget the experience. Todd took a lot of pressure off of me by being so nice and helpful with her. You couldn’t find any better. He’s the best!
I especially enjoyed not having to change hotels, the variety of activities, suggestions from Oscar and Werner for action. This was probably the best trip I’ve ever taken — relaxing, guides were knowledgeable in an educational manner. Every little detail was handled in a professional way. You felt valued as an individual. Thanks for sharing! Look for others’ comments in upcoming issues.
