July / August 2007 - AAA News Posters are Winners in Traffic Safety Program Students from Upper Dauphin Elementary annually compete in the National AAA Traffic Safety Poster Contest, displaying their creativity while promoting traffic safety issues. The program continues its primary aim of reducing traffic and pedestrian crashes, the # 1 cause of death for children ages three to 14. Primary Grades (K-2) this year worked on the subject of "Pedestrian/Child Passenger Safety" while Elementary Grades (3-5) worked on the subject of "Getting to School Safely." Entries are judged locally and then sent for national recognition and rewards. Ten posters representing each topic were submitted from AAA Central Penn to the National Level to compete for monetary rewards up to $1,000. First-, second- and third-place posters are shown. These students will receive U.S. Savings Bonds from AAA Central Penn.
