January - February 2008 - AAA News New Driver Improvement Class Renews Status with Less Class Time A PennDOT-approved refresher course for the AAA Mature Driver Improvement Program now means that drivers who take the course can renew with shorter class time. The AAA Mature Driver Improvement Program Four Hour Refresher Course has been approved as part of the Mature Driver Improvement Program (MDIP). Program participants will be allowed to take this four-hour course within three years of taking the eight-hour Basic Course. To enroll in the refresher course, students must present a valid Certificate of Completion that was dated within three years. If the Certificate of Completion is more than three years old, the participant must retake the Basic eight-hour course. New certificates will be issued at the end of the refresher course, which will be valid for three years. Drivers 55 and older are invited to take the Safe Driving Course for Mature Operators offered at many of the AAA Central Penn locations. Those who complete the course will receive skills and tips to be safer drivers. Most people who complete the course also receive discounts on car insurance. See the class application form on page 46 of this magazine to sign up for a Driver Improvement Basic course or Refresher course today. The AAA Central Penn Driving School also offers affordable behind-the-wheel brush-up and skills assessment sessions for program participants. Contact the office for more information, 1-800-723-7021 (in Lancaster, 717-898-6900), or email drivingschool@aaacp.com.
